When will they lose their baby teeth?
Children tend to lose their baby teeth in very close order to which they arrived. As the baby (deciduous/primary) teeth are lost, the adult teeth emerge to take their place.
Below is a guideline as to when you may expect to see your child lose his/her baby teeth. It is important to note that this is a guideline only and all children are different.
Should you have any concerns regarding the eruption of your children’s teeth, discuss this issue with your dentist.
Finding Dental Issues Early Can Help in the Future
Early and regularly dental visits for children can help detect and diagnose issues that can become problematic or costly in the future.
If your child may be at risk of decay/cavities or other hygiene problems, a dentist may start applying preventative oral health measures and treatments to help fix the issue early before it worsens.
As children age and their oral bone structure beings to develop, early orthodontics can be recommended to help with correct shaping of their mouth and bite. These are known as orthodontic appliances, or otherwise known as palatele expanders.
A palate expander is an orthodontic appliance that is designed and used to widen the upper jaw. They can be recommended for a variety of different reasons, which include;
- correcting cross bite
- relieving overcrowding
- widening smile arc
- widening of the nasal passage to improve nasal airflow
The primary reason as to why orthodontic oral appliances are best recommended for children is that this method of treatment becomes less effective in adults when bone growth is usually completely developed. After extensive examination, your dentist will recommend if such treatment is necessary for you child.
